Overview
Friendly is a Swiss web analytics tool that's based on the same open-source code as Matomo. The main difference between the two is one of data handling: While Matomo uses Amazon AWS for hosting its data, Friendly keeps all data on servers in the EU. That doesn't make them unique among the other tools we've reviewed, but it does differentiate them from Matomo for sites that need (or want) their data to remain on EU soil for privacy or legal reasons.
Pricing
Friendly offers a 14-day free trial on all of its plans, with pricing starting at $19 per month for up to 50k page views on one website. Moving up to the $49 per month Professional plan gives you 100k page views per month and up to 10 websites. This makes it one of the more expensive options out there for smaller sites, but it could work well if you need to use EU-based servers.
Dashboard Experience
You'll notice a lot of similarities between Friendly's dashboard and Matomo's, since they are both based on the Matomo open source software.
Additional Features
Friendly offers a reporting API and can be used with single-page apps. If you are currently using Google Analytics to track your sites, you can optionally hire the Friendly team to manually import your historical data.
